Where do I go when I want in-depth, insightful, unbiased information in politics?
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
. In fact, it's gotten to the point where I don't feel like I can trust anyone else. Everyone else seems biased, they follow the wrong things, they don't really analyze, and I never learn anything new... What's really shocking is it seems I'm not alone on this, the daily show is getting a lot of respect...
Almost all of the major candidates have appeared recently (Kerry, Edwards, Nader, McCain, Ed Gillespie, no Bush yet). Ted Koppel recently appeared and did a
show on it on Dateline
.
What started as a play on talk shows has become one of the most biting, informative, and insightful political programs out there. And Jon Stewart appears to have begun a crusade to change the media, which, in my opinion, is DESPARATELY needed.
Maybe humor gives them more flexibility to question everyone and everything because they don't have to take themselves to seriously or have to try to hard to be respectable and unbiased, but the writing and questions asked go so far beyond anything else I've seen. You actually get a sense of the real people and what they really think rather than a carefully scripted message.
So check it out, it may change your mind about what the media should be doing.
